In the 1960s, disciples of Jeevanpran Swamibapa began to
immigrate to the UK and all over the world. To ensure that
the supreme tenets of Lord Shree Swaminarayan, such as
compassion, tolerance and selflessness, were maintained,
and to ensure the culture and heritage of the Motherland
were kept invigorated, Jeevanpran Swamibapa, and later
Acharya Swamishree, visited the UK on many occasions.
Jeevanpran Swamibapa’s first visit to the UK was in 1970,
during which our Organisation’s special relationship with
Trafalgar Square was established.
The temples in London (Golders Green) and Bolton have
since flourished, and become two of many international hubs
for the Worldwide Centre for Spiritual, Cultural and Social
welfare. These temples are more than just places of worship:
They host an array of social and charitable activities,
educational institutions and academies for sports, culture
and arts.
Acharya Swamishree has inspired and encouraged many
charitable operations from these temples, including
fundraising for disaster relief efforts, and partnering with
mainstream charities – some of whom you will see
supporting this event.
